iTunes France Turns on the TV
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Apples iTunes Store in France joined the U.S. and U.K. on Thursday when it added TV shows to its online offerings. French customers now have access to programming from TF1, France Télévisions, Arte, Mediatoons Dargaud TV, and Dupuis TV along with content from Walt Disney and MTV Networks.
The French iTunes Store is now offering several popular shows including La main blanche, Les Contes de la Collection Chez Maupassant, Coeur Océan, Spirou et Fantasio, Lucky Luke, and Le dessous des cartes. U.S. show offerings include Lost, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, and South Park. Disneys content will be available at the French iTunes Store "soon," according to Apple.
The shows are compatible with iTunes on Mac OS X and Windows, iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV.
Apple is continuing with its new multi-tier pricing structure by offering shows at €1.49, €1.99 and €2.49 per episode -- a trend that first appeared with the companys U.K. iTunes Store, and then appeared in the U.S. with HBOs shows.
