Juicy Development Releases Police Scanner 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch

Utah-based Juicy Development announced the release of Police Scanner, the company's iPhone and iPod touch application allowing users to locate and listen in on police dispatch frequencies throughout the country, on Thursday. The application, which is designed for fire fighters, news crews, emergency responders and hobbyists, works with over 800 EMS operations and users can find active streams almost anywhere.
Once installed, Police Scanner allows users to listen in (but not broadcast) on police, fire and EMS activities within a given area. The application ties into a larger database, which is continually updated for the user and listener base. The database is currently undergoing a rebuild because the stream list has become so large. Over the next few days updates to the stream list will sort by state. This has been the most requested feature request from users according to Hadley.
Police Scanner is available for a US$1.99 introductory price on the App Store (the offer is expected to end this weekend) and requires iPhone OS 2.0 or later to install and run.
