Rumor: Apple Orders 4M iPhones, New Models

Apple has apparently ordered some 4 million iPhones for delivery during its second quarter, and that order may include new models. According to an unnamed source, word of Apple's big order came from companies that supply the components used in the combination iPod and smartphone.
chinatimes.com reported (translated) that Apple may be planning on offering three iPhone models -- one that supports EDGE data connections, one with 3G support, and a third specifically for the China market. The new iPhone models are also supposed to maintain a form factor similar to the current iPhone 3G.
Since Apple doesn't comment on unannounced products, there isn't yet any solid proof that the company is planning on releasing three new iPhone models in the coming weeks. Apple does, however, have a track record for introducing new iPhones in the June window, so we could see new models soon -- especially since Apple's World Wide Developer Conference kicks off on June 8 and would be a perfect opportunity to show off a new iPhone.
