Rumor: Apple Working on iTunes Replay Streaming Feature
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 at 4:20 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
Apple is working on a service called iTunes Replay that would allow users to stream content they have purchased from iTunes directly to their devices iTunes-capable devices (Macs, PC, iPods, iPhones, Apple TV), according to a report from AppleInsider. AI didn't cite its sources, but said it "believed" that Apple was pursuing this course.
As described, iTunes Replay would allow users to purchase content without worrying about local storage issues. The service would also allow users to directly stream their purchases through an Apple TV without worrying about syncing their Apple TV with their Mac or PC. iPod and iPhone users would also be able to watch or listen to their iTunes purchases without filling up the limited storage available in these devices.
The report states that it is unclear if iTunes Replay will be a free service or a for-fee service, or how it will be rolled out.
