Spare Change Software introduces Waypoints 1.0 for iPhone, iPod Touch

Raleigh-based Spare Change Software released Waypoints 1.0 Wednesday, the company's waypoint manager for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch handsets on Wednesday. The program, which incorporates the handsets' interface, serves as a means of quickly viewing the coordinates and elevation of a current location and saving the data for quick retrieval later.
Once saved, waypoints can be easily shared to friends along with coordinates, elevation notes and a link to Google maps.
Other features include the following:
- Access saved waypoints via the desktop web browser
- Download a GPX or Google Earth (KML) file for each waypoint
- Store notes along with the coordinates and elevation
- View a waypoint in the Maps application for directions
- View coordinates in Decimal Degrees, Degrees: Decimal Minutes, and Degrees: Minutes: Seconds
Waypoints 1.0 retails for $2.99 on the App Store and requires iPhone OS 2.1 or later to install and run.
