TuneUp Comes to the Mac
Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 7:45 AM - by Jeff Gamet
TuneUp Media announced the immediate availability of TuneUp for the Mac on Thursday.TuneUp is an iTunes plug-in that finds album cover art and corrects mislabeled song information, and has previously been available only to Windows users.
The plug-in works by checking the "audio fingerprint" of each song, and then tracking down the appropriate data from the Gracenote Global Media Database. It also locates missing album artwork, displays local concerts for the artists in your iTunes library, finds related YouTube videos and Google news articles, and can find Wikipedia biographies for artists.
TuneUp for the Mac is available in a free version that can perform 500 metadata fixes and find artwork for 50 albums. TuneUp Gold, which removes the search limits, is priced at US$19.95, or $11.95 for an annual subscription. Both are available for download at the TuneUp Media Web site.
