Walmart Starts Selling the iPhone
Monday, December 29th, 2008 at 7:56 AM - by Jeff Gamet
Retail powerhouse Walmart began selling Apple's iPhone 3G in its stores on Sunday, December 28. The company is offering both the 8GB and 16GB model at a discount, although a slim one at only US$2 off Apple's list price.
Walmart is selling the 8GB iPhone 3G for $197 and the 16GB model for $297. Apple's standard pricing for the combination iPod and smartphone is $199 and $299, respectively.

Now you can buy your iPhone and pork rinds at the same time.
Rumors surfaced in October that Apple and Walmart had struck an iPhone 3G distribution deal, and in December Walmart employees unofficially confirmed that the iPhone was on its way. At the time, the rumor mill claimed that the retailer would offer a 4GB version of the iPhone 3G for $99.
The distribution deal will potentially bring the iPhone to an even wider audience since Walmart has stores in many locations where Apple and AT&T retailers are missing.
