Zoltar Will Reveal Your Future
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 at 1:20 PM - by John Martellaro
Zoltar is an iPhone/iPod touch game that is fun for all ages. The psychic Zoltar sits in his ornamental box and answers questions about love, friends, work, money and health. In addition to great graphics, its has some nice surprises as well.

Zoltar launches with some neat music, reminiscent of the carnival atmosphere where these animated machines first appeared. Zoltar appears and invites you to pick a card from one of the five categories. Then, in a deep mystical voice, Zoltar will reveal, in a short, enigmatic, inscrutable voice a verbal snippet regarding your future.

"Select a card!"
If you exhaust the categories and want a different take on things, just quit the game and relaunch. A new set of predictions will unfold. Beware, however. If you let the game run without picking a card, Zoltar will insult you and prod you into picking a card.
"You are beginning to irritate me. Pick a card already!"

Some visual dazzle before the pronouncement
After you select a card, there's that mystical jingle again and some neat graphics as Zoltar is cast into a 3-D change of perspective and prepares his prediction.
The game is not overly complex, and its charm lies not in the depth of options or dazzling motion. Rather, the colorful animation, throaty voice, mild insults if you delay, and ambiguous predictions tend to cast the game as a moment of comic relief from a hectic life. Kids will like it because it's simple, charming, and has a certain giddy buzz about it. Warning: you may wish to avoid buying this game for a 5 year-old prior to a long cross-country drive!
Anyone who has seen the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks will just have to have this game. Either to amuse themselves or titillate (irritate) others at just the right time during a party.
Zoltar from Super Deadly Studios requires iPhone OS 2.0 or later and is priced at US$0.99. (Formerly $1.99.) This is a small price to know your future -- so says Zoltar.
