iTunes Music Review - War of the Worlds

  • War of the Worlds

    • 10 out of 5
    • Jeff Wayne
    • Reviewed by Vern Seward

    • Buy this album from iTunes Music Store
    • With the new movie adaptation of H.G Wells' classic Sci Fi invasion tale, War of the Worlds, currently on theater screens everywhere, there's new interest in Jeff Wayne's rock opera version, and it is my considered opinion that Jeff Wayne's masterpiece stands up well after all of this time. Never mind the CGI eye candy, and Tom Cruise on the silver screen; Richard Burton's narration, the songs, music, and sound effects combine to make Jeff Wyane's War of the World a far richer, more frightening, and ultimately more satisfying experience than either big screen versions. iTunes Music Store offers up all of the songs and some of the narratives, but this is an album that is best consumed whole. There's a fresher, re-mastered version available from Amazon that includes 4 extra tracks, which should make any fan very happy. This is a really good album.
