In-Depth Review

Fabrix Cases

Singapore-based Fabrix has been shipping simple but stylish iPod pouches for some time. The company, whose offerings span from splattered denim to colored corduroy, recently introduced the retro-inspired Spring collection, sporting small and large polka dots.

Two Fabrix Spring '06 cases

Fabrix cases employ the most basic approach to protecting your iPod, without any bells and whistles. There's no belt clip nor armband, and you can't even control the iPod or see the display when it's tucked away. But those were never Fabrix' intentions, as the handmade-cases are designed for those who wish to admire the iPod au naturale when using it, but still want a fashionable way to protect it in their bag or pocket.

With that in mind, Fabrix cases are very well executed, featuring reasonably low profile dimensions, a soft interior that won't scratch your iPod, and a durable enough exterior and stitching that should resist wear and tear for years. The fit is snug enough that even held upside down the Fabrix case will hold on to your iPod. As for the styling, that's purely subjective, but more than one emo friend of ours flipped over the polka design. If that's not your flavor, Fabrix has more than 20 other styles.

The Bottom Line

If simple and fun describe your taste in iPod cases, chances are Fabrix has your ticket. And at just under $20 including shipping, it will be difficult to be disappointed with your purchase.
