In-Depth Review

Kickstand Case

For people accustomed to vegging out in front the television, having to hold on to about five ounces for an extended period of time in order to watch videos on their 5G iPod at a comfortable angle is simply unacceptable. Fortunately, Belkin has ceased upon this shortcoming and developed the Kickstand, a handsome leather case that can bend apart to prop your iPod up at a nice angle, perfect for tray tables on airplanes or anywhere else.

Belkin Kickstand Case for 5G iPod

The Kickstand is crafted from soft leather and compared to other leather cases features good stitching and cut-outs for the screen and click wheel. Each of the former are protected by pieces of plastic that are attached to the case, offering excellent protection to the screen and click wheel but at the expense of minor losses to clarity and control.

Kickstand cracked open

Unlike most cases, the iPod loads into the Kickstand from the bottom with a small hook and fabric loop keeping things together. In order to remove the iPod or convert the case to stand mode you must undo this hook, which isn't the handiest design but it's certainly effective. Attached to the fabric loop is a button clasp that snaps to the case and keeps it secure when set to stand mode. The Kickstand's design prevents a belt clip from being used with the case so Belkin includes a caribiner instead.

The Bottom Line

If you find yourself watching videos on your iPod frequently, the Kickstand is your ideal case companion. The quality is sound, the price is reasonable, and the convenience unquestionable.

The Kickstand is available in black or white from Belkin, but Amazon lists a pink version for only $20.99 as well.
