- Okay, someone had to say it, and though others on the iPO staff are more qualified to review this album, I decided the time was now. This is the quintessential concept album. Though others came before

- Wow! Perhaps my 5-star rating is simply because the Redwalls are not only new and fresh (none of them older than 22!), or perhaps its because -- despite their ages -- they are able to totally capture

OtterBox for iPod nano
Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 at 7:00 AM - by Misha Sakellaropoulo
Owing to iPod nano's small stature, Otter Box's waterproof case for Apple's slimmest iPod quickly became our favorite. The superb craftsmanship matches that of previous Otter Box casesall of which have received top marks from the iPodObserverbut the smaller form factor is the most appealing feature given the extra bulk inherent to heavy-duty cases.
![]() Otter Box for iPod nano |
Slip your iPod nano into the one-piece Otter Box and snap it shut and you can reset assured that neither dust, sand, nor water will penetrate its precious cargo. The nano's bright screen shines through with negligible distortion while the thin membrane that protects the click wheel is every bit as sensitive and tactile as a naked nano. The seal around the membrane has looked better on other Otter Box cases we've seen but still keeps the wet stuff out without worry.

As with other Otter Boxes, a basic lanyard and removable belt-clip come standard, while an armband that integrates with the belt clip is available separately for $15. You will need to bring your own waterproof headphones with you if you want to use your iPod nano in the ocean, lake, or pool, of course, just don't forget that the Otter Box's waterproof qualities are guaranteed for surfacing swimming only (depths up to 3 feet).

The Bottom Line
The Otter Box for iPod nano is ideal for protecting your music in extreme conditions but could even pass for day-to-day use if you want to be able to toss your iPod into your bag, car, or down a flight of steps without concern (although we don't endorse the latter). It wasn't too long ago that people were extolling the virtues of the splash-proof Walkmannow look what you can do with a package one-third the size.

The usual suspects, Otter Box style.
Just The Facts
Pros:heavy-duty, waterproof protection priced right
Cons:none significant
