PowerBug for iPod shuffle
Tuesday, December 26th, 2006 at 10:00 AM - by Misha Sakellaropoulo
DLO's PowerBug for iPod shuffle allows you to charge your iPod shuffle from any wall outlet. Out of the box, the PowerBug supports both first-generation and second-generation iPod shuffles, thanks to the included USB cable that features the new shuffle's unique mini-jack USB connector (first generation shuffles plug directly into the PowerBug itself).

What DLO doesn't tell you is that the PowerBug will work with any dock-connector iPod, too, provided your bring your own cable. In fact, it will charge any device that draws power from a powered USB port, like a Microsoft Zune or cellular phone.
Why does this matter? Because the PowerBug is one of the smallest AC chargers we have come across, meaning even iPod owners without a shuffle in their line-up can appreciate the PowerBug.
With a product as straightforward as the PowerBug, the criteria for evaluation generally boils down to whether it works or not. Nonetheless, if you're the hair splitting type, you might wish that the bright green LED indicator would only glow when an iPod was connected, instead of constantly when the PowerBug is plugged in.

The Bottom Line
If you're looking for a way to charge your iPod away from your computer, the PowerBug is a first-rate pick, especially if you own one of Apple's new iPod shuffles.
Just The Facts
Pros:tiny size, slick fold-away plug, works with any dock-connector iPod if you bring your own cable
Cons:none
