In-Depth Review
Privacy Screen Pro
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 at 7:30 AM - by Bob LeVitus
Case*Mate's Privacy Screen Pro will prevent people standing on either side of you from seeing what's on your iPhone screen.
If it sounds like Privacy Screen Pro is a one-trick pony of a product, it is. Fortunately, it does that trick -- shielding your iPhone from prying eyes -- very nicely. Which is why this will be a very short review…
The kit includes a 2-inch x 3-inch Privacy Screen, a screen cleaning cloth, a graph sheet for sizing your Privacy Screen, a soft applicator card, and instructions for sizing and applying the product.
Installation was a breeze and took less than two minutes. The Privacy Screen adheres to your iPhone by static cling rather than adhesive, so it can easily be removed or repositioned without leaving sticky residue on your iPhone. For what it's worth, I removed and reinstalled mine several times without any degradation in adhesion. I stashed it in a piece of wax paper, which kept it clean and dust-free.
The image below pretty much tells the story… When you look at your iPhone head on, as shown on the left, it looks perfectly normal. But if you move to the left or the right and view the iPhone screen from an angle of 45° or more, you can't see the screen at all!

Here's a diagram that explains what it does a little more clearly:

So that's the deal. Apply the Privacy Screen and what's on your iPhone screen will stay on your iPhone screen with nobody else any the wiser.
By the way, while the product fits the iPhone screen without any trimming or cutting, this kit would be suitable for use with any PDA or smart phone that has a screen that's 2 x 3-inches or less.
The Bottom Line
If you want to keep what's on your iPhone screen to yourself, Privacy Screen Pro works precisely as promised. If you need this type of protection, look no further.
Just The Facts
Pros:Easy to install, no adhesive residue, works as promised.
Cons:None
