In-Depth Review
Scenario Poker for iPhone
Thursday, July 26th, 2007 at 1:00 AM - by Bob LeVitus
Scenario Poker for iPhone is just what it sounds like -- a Texas Hold 'Em game that you play on your iPhone.
The game simulates a Texas Hold 'Em tournament. If you hold your iPhone vertically, you play against 7 opponents per table; if you hold your iPhone horizontally, you play against 9.
Here's what both flavors look like:

Each player starts with $1,000 in chips. You play tournament-style until you either lose all of your chips or win everyone else's. If you win all the chips at the table, you advance to the semi-final table and do it again. If you win all the chips at this table you advance to the final table. And if you win all the chips at the final table you're the champion.
Game play is brisk and moves even faster after you fold, which is a good feature. The artificial intelligence isn't bad so you won't find it easy to defeat up to 27 opponents and become the champ.
For what it's worth, there's also a Dashboard Widget version, which is almost exactly the same as the iPhone version except that you play it on your Mac instead of on your iPhone.
You can play both versions for free. Or, if you register for $10 you'll unlock both the iPhone and Widget (Dashboard) versions.
Here's what you get for your money:
- Customize your player's display name.
- See the Chip Leaders and your complete Player Statistics.
- Change options in the Graphics pane.
- Remove the PayPal logo from the table.
- See the Pot Odds when you're faced with a call.
- Support the development of future versions.
- Get a free iPoker Card (a $3 value), while supplies last.
Seeing the pot odds alone is worth the price of admission, but the game is a lot of fun even if you don't pony up.
The Bottom Line
It's fun, it's challenging, and it's fast enough to keep you occupied without getting bored. If you like poker you'll like this rendition.
