Toyota Introduces iPod Compatibility Upgrade to Entire Scion Line-Up

Toyota on Friday announced that its entire line of Scion cars will receive iPod compatibility upgrade options with the introduction of the 2006 Scion xA and xB models, which will begin arriving at dealerships next week. All Scion cars include a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo that can be connected directly to an iPod; the head unit pulls track, artist and album information from the MP3 player and places it in a one-line scrolling display on the screen.

The stereo's mini-jack port is also compatible with other MP3 players, according to Toyota. The optional upgrade costs US$260, including installation. In the Scion xA, drivers can control the iPod's music through the steering wheel buttons, in addition to the controls on the front of the stereo.

We did a soft launch today, but we'll be officially announce it on Monday, July 11th. That is, of course, unless you guys manage to break it over the weekend!

There's now a welcome note explaining what's what.

Well, text editing is broken in FireFox (i.e. insertion point vertical bar isn't at the real insertion point); haven't tried it with Camino nor iCab yet; seems to work fine with Safari.

Note: This isn't the case with MacObserver (which works fine with FireFox).

Odd... I saw your note, fired up Firefox, and am typing this in it now, and it works fine. I'm running Firefox 1.0.4 on my G5 iMac at the house here.

is working fine here too. Firefox 1.0.4 on my G5 tower, using Panther.

And Dave, how you like Connecticut? After getting off the boat on Ellis Island, my family settled there after a short stint in New York.

(Edits are what happen when you have a two year old on your lap hovering over the keyboard.)

Yeah, well now it's working for me too (but i have since restarted FireFox). It was doing it consistently on all my posts; was real annoying. Firefox must have burped or something. Who knows? (The FireFox works in mysterious ways.)

That was me, but somehow FireFox logged me out. It's still doing some strange stuff, but at any rate it appears to be on my end and not your's, so "never mind!"
