Concertino Speakers for iPod Ship

Goldster Audio is now shipping Concertino, a tube-based amplifier and pair of speakers designed for use with the iPod. The Concertino system was designed to complement the look of the iPod and is made of aluminum with a multi-layered coat of white paint. It comes with a mini stereo to RCA cable, a power cord and triple core speaker cables. The amplifier features a pair of RCA inputs and is compatible with all versions of the iPod and iPod mini as well as AirPort Express.

Tubes! I haven't seen a new tube based product in years. Cool, when it starts acting up we can head down to the store and plug vacuum tubes into the tester till we find the bad ones and purchase replacements.

Nostalgia aside, it seems a bit expensive for what I need though I need something. I have an iMotion, and it is okay, but distorts at high volume. My '70s era tuner-amp recently gave up the ghost (Roxy Music's The Ghost in You) and I am looking for a replacement.

I gottta comment on the Concertino web site. Putting photos of white products on a white background makes it real hard to see them.

I would have to say this is a dumb product designed only for nostalgia's sake for people who have nothing better to do than waste money. I completely understand that a tube based amplifier can make music sound warmer, does anyone really think it's going to work with compressed music where 90% of the original information is already missing? Is it going to make it sound like only 85% is missing instead?
