PlayDock MP3: A Cordless Boombox for iPod, Zen Micro, Dell DJ
Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 at 2:15 PM - by
Cambridge SoundWorks announced Monday PlayDock MP3, a cordless boombox that can be used with the Creative Zen Micro, Apple's iPod or iPod mini, and the Dell DJ and Pocket DJ digital media devices. The speaker system features a 10-hour rechargeable battery that allows the device to be used cord-free anywhere, and the docking bay on top of the device is compatible with the devices listed above.
Sound output is based around three amplified drivers (drivers are the proper term for a speaker). In today's announcement, the company said the system provides "excellent mid-bass, a wide, rich bass response, and full, warm sound output without distortion -- with equal proficiency from classical woodwinds to heavy metal blasts." iPodObserver will be putting those claims to the test in the near future.
Cambridge SoundWorks said that when the system is plugged in, it will charge "select" digital media devices, which a company spokesperson told iPodObserver includes the Dell Pocket DJ and Creative Zen Micro. Apple iPod, iPod Mini and Dell DJ can not be charged when docked, but are otherwise fully supported.
