Griffin Announces Remote Control iPod Car Adapter

Griffin Technology announced today the SmartDeck iPod cassette adapter which adds remote control functions to your iPod when connected to your car stereo. The SmartDeck will allow you to use your car stereo to control your iPod's volume, scan your music, skip songs, and pause or stop playback.

The SmartDeck is compatible with all dockable iPods, although the play/pause functions don't work with 3rd Generation models, and an iPod nano compatible model is also in development. They will be available later this year, and retail for US$29.99.

These are becoming less and less useful, as more new cars come with CD/radios, no tape decks. Cassette adapters do not work with some tape decks, which see the adapter as always being at the end of the tape, so it flips back and forth.
