Xantrex Technology Inc. has introduced XPower Pocket Inverter, which converts 12-volt power from a car's cigarette lighter or airliner's power socket to household AC electricity. It can not only charge an iPod, cell phone, Blackberry or other portable device but also provide power to a laptop. It includes both a USB 2.0 port and an AC outlet.
The XPower Pocket Inverter is available in two models, 100 and 175, for US$49.99 and $69.99, respectively. The difference between the two lies in continuous and maximum watts: the 100 can deliver 80 continuous watts and reach a maximum of 160 watts for five minutes, while the 175 offers 140 continuous watts with a maximum of 175 watts for five minutes.
