Disney Bypasses iTunes, Mac Users With iPod-Enabled Narnia Clip
Monday, November 28th, 2005 at 1:40 PM - by Staff
The Walt Disney Co. has released a new iPod-ready video clip from the upcoming movie Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but not through iTunes. In fact, the Maven software that automatically downloads new video files and synchronizes them with an iPod doesn't work on the Mac, although Mac users can watch the content on the Narnia Web site.
Direct Marketing News reported on the development on Monday, quoting Maven vice-president of marketing Todd Boes as saying: "[Disney is] following where the consumers are. We all know they're on their devices and less on television." Macworld UK's Jonny Evans noted the article and added the information about the lack of Macintosh support.
