Review - iSkin Duo nano

The folks at iSkin were among the first to think that if one silicone case was good, then two must be even better. Initially relesed for the iPod shuffle, the iSkin Duo recently made its way over to the iPod nano, complete with eigh different color combinations.

The dual silicone design delivers both improved shock protection and an appearance that's different from the monochrome competition. In fact, the iSkin Duo goes the extra mile in both departmets. A plastic screen protector sits between both pieces of silicone to protect your nano's display without directly rubbing against it, while the inner silicone skin covers the click wheel entirely. Should you desire, a plastic cap can be placed on top for even more protection and a smoother feel. iSkin is also one the few companies that integrates port covers into its silicone cases, so your dock connector and headphone port remain free of debris when not in use.

iSkin has also paid attention to the smaller design touches, like making the inner silicone glow in the dark, and including micro bumps to help you grip the case. The RevoClip2 belt clip is rugged and can rotate, or can easily be removed entirely leaving the back almost totally flush.

The only perceivable flaw with the iSkin Duo lies in its screen protector, which is a touch small and distorts the edges depending on what angle you're looking at it.

If yesterday's review of iStyles' eight dollar case represents one end of the excellent, but minnimalist, spectrum of silicone cases, then iSkin's Duo sits at the opposite end. Thirty dollars is hardly inexpensive, but the Duo's pricing is in line with other premium cases and represent the finest we've encountered to date.

Just The Facts

The only other perceivable flaw with the iSkin Duo is that iSkin is EXTREMELY slow in shipping their products.

My eVo3 (for 5G) was ordered on Dec. 8th and was "in queue to ship" for a long time and 2 days ago it was listed as "ready to ship."

Today is Dec. 20th. If it doesn't come by MacWorld I'm really going to be pissed!

As cool as it is, doesn't protect the Nano from accidental little dog teeth. I guess the bright colors made the dog think it was a dog toy. So I've now got the dual case without a Nano now.

I have the issue with the case attracting dust. I ordered the black and red one and the dust are very obvious to see... I also feel the case is kind of cheaply made...

this case attracts dust or pet hair a lot. the screen could be bigger to reduce distortion, but is fine for normal play. The click wheel protector (plastic shield) prevents you from being ultra-precise with the click wheel, but feels a lot better than just the silicon under your thumb. the glow in the dark feature is really nice, because when you are falling asleep to your ipod, you can spot it before you roll onto it. *NOTICE* if you have an OEM Apple nano dock, your ipod won't fit it with this case on...

I just got mine....I cannot even scroll around easily. It is the worst thing I have ever seen when it comes tovers. I just got my Nano yesterday and it was difficult at first to scroll before I had the case on but now....with it on FORGET it. It doesn't even detect my finger movements.
