Easy iPod Shop Changes Name After Apple's Legal Threat

UK iPod accessories retailer Easy iPod Shop has changed its name to Easy iShop after a threat of legal action by Apple, which has been aggressively defending its iPod trademark since last year. While the easyipod.co.uk URL still works, the company is gradually transitioning to easyishop.co.uk.

James Nicholson, managing director at Easy iShop parent company Micro Heaven, said in a statement: "We totally understand that Apple need to protect their brand names and would not ever attempt to fight this in court. We also feel the domain name www.easyishop.co.uk allows us to expand into various other mobility sectors as and when we feel the market dictates." Mr. Nicholson also said that the company will branch out into accessories for rival MP3 players in the coming months.
