To Phone or Not to Phone?

Apple is close to launching a cell phone/MP3 player and has talked to several Taiwanese vendors about producing it, sources recently told DigiTimes. Or maybe Apple has experienced R&D problems with its fabled "iPhone" and won't debut it until 2007, according to a pair of sources cited by ThinkSecret.

If there really is an upcoming iPhone (or whatever they're gonna call it) I'd want it to be something really(!) special just like the design study as seen in the iTalk video (seek google video for "iTalk" to see the "commercial")! That would make me go buy one immediately! But only Steve knows what's really gonna come.....

I just hope they make both a CDMA and a GSM version.

GSM-only would really suck, as both Cingular and T-Mobile don't hold a candle to Verizon out here in the SF Bay Area. Steve lives here, so maybe he won't be clueless about this...
