Apple Completing Work on a Bluetooth iPod?

Stuff magazine in a Tuesday blog entry cited a UK retailer as confirming that Apple has "been adding the finishing touches to a Bluetooth iPod." They noted that "a deluge of accessories," such as Bluetooth headphones, will accompany the release, and such a device could set the stage for playing music through a car stereo without needing an FM transmitter, or even broadcasting tunes to others nearby.

Stuff also pointed to a Macsimum News post discussing a patent filed by Apple that would cover Bluetooth-enabled photo frames. However, the magazine noted, "one thing a Bluetooth iPod 1.0 probably won't include is ultrawideband, the new super-fast, video-streaming version of the wireless tech that could in future let you stream films to TVs around the home from your little jukebox."

If they can do it well I would probably buy one. I hate wrestling with the headphone cord

Not too keen on charging little earbuds though. they better still provide a headphone port.

I can't stand the headphone wires. They are always getting tangled and caught on things.

I also worry about battery life and sound quality.

It would be neat if my wife and I could listen to one iPod wirelessly while walking in the morning.

I agree! For going to the gym, I found this shirt that holds my Nano and and has little loops that I put my headphone wires through to keep them out of my way when I workout. I wish they made it in cotton/lycra, but it's not bad. Until Apple comes out with a good wireless solution, I'm using this shirt for workouts and stuff: www.podwearclothing.com

If it doesn't offer cell phone integration then screw it. But hopefully it does. Oh man that would be sweet!

Bluetooth is one to one technology. I would love to listen to one ipod with my wife too, but you'll have to choose between your ipod and your wife.

I hope this isn't just for some wireless earbuds, but for music sharing/swapping with other ipod bluetooth users. I asume it will be capable of video playback and wireless music/video/podcast download from itunes. I also think it should definitely have at least the option of choosing between GSM and CDMA cell phone integration (so that you can choose wireless providers). Come on Steve J. get to it MAN!!!!!!
