How to Spot a Counterfeit iPod

While most long-time iPod users could easily spot a counterfeit version of their favorite MP3 player, those who are new to the phenomenon could be fooled. iPodGear.com has posted a brief primer on the subject, complete with pictures. The site noted that Apple has told its resellers about the issue and explained how to tell a fake iPod from a real one.

Don't buy one from some guys out in the parking lot selling them out of an auto, or at the swap meet.

If it is as ugly as that black one which is an example of a fake don't buy it either. The screen is to narrow and the control wheel is touch sensitive on the real iPod not real buttons so you will see no gaps. The black plastic is flat instead of glossy and smooth like on a real iPod. And like the old saying goes if it sounds to good to be true then most likely your getting ripped off.
