No iPhone from Softbank

Softbank denied on Monday that it is co-developing a cell phone with Apple in response to rumors that started surfacing on Saturday. Several news sites, including CIO, cite a report from Saturday's Nihon Keizai Shimbun in Japan stating that the two companies are working together to develop a new cell phone.

Today, I4U News reports that Softbank released a short statement denying that it is working with Apple. The Softbank statement, roughly translated from Japanese to English, states that the initial report was guess work.

That must mean the report on Singapore nightly news that proclaimed a victory for Softbank winning the contract, was wrong.

I would prefer an iPod / PDA hybrid more than any other. I use my cell phone for other things. To me, and iPod with PDA functions makes more sense and is more desirable. I don't *want* an iPod / phone bugbear.
