Apple Files Copyright Suit Against Creative

Apple Computer has filed another lawsuit against rival MP3 player manufacturer Creative Technology. Apple claims in its copyright lawsuit and trade complaint that Creative is infringing on three of its patents relating to the use of icons, and displaying and editing data.

According to Channel News Asia, Apple is asking for a court order to stop Creative from committing further breaches, cash damages, and a Trade Commission order blocking the import of Creative's portable music players.

Creative filed a lawsuit against Apple in May, claiming that Apple was violating its patents for on screen navigation, and also asked the U.S. Trade Commission to block the import of iPods. Apple countered with a suit of its own claiming the Creative was violating digital music player patents that it holds.

If you can't take its never good to give. A hard lesson for Creative to learn and they may well go broke in the process.

Live by the lawsuit, die by the lawsuit.

The Apple legal team and board must have had massive grins on their faces when they heard of the Creative suits against them, and must have been bursting with enthusiasm to get their counter suits out of the door. You can almost see them walking round with secret smiles of smugness for weeks beforehand, in anticipation of releasing the hounds the moment they caught Creative in their back yard.

Tee hee.

Going for the jugular... Apple knows that Creative is on the ropes in a big way, and these suits are surely meant to drain their scarce resources. And to teach all those that would have a like mind... don't bark if you can't bite.

I particularly like the “When we meet to discuss this, Apple never mentioned this to us about our patent infringements” Waaah, Waaah, Waaah,

Well duh!

So, this is apple saying "that all you got, suckaaaaah?" to Creative. Looks like Apple has a magazine full of ammo, and Creative have fired their one and only chance, and are waiting to see if it'll do any damage. My money's on the 8 billion in the bank, the team of lawers and the massive patent library that Apple has.
