Jobs and iPod Land In Religious Flyer

The religious organization called Jews for Jesus has adopted Apple Computer CEO, Steve Jobs, as a sort of mascot, and is offering him salvation as a bonus. The group produced a flyer that parallels Mr. Jobs' life and career to that of Jesus Christ, and urges him to take the NeXTSTEP next step, and embrace their beliefs with a friendly reminder that there is more to life than technology.

Several Jobs-related references are in the flyer.
Presumably, Mr. Jobs and Apple Computer have not authorized or endorsed the flyer.

The fine print says the salvation offer is open to everyone.
Thanks to Boing Boing for the heads up.

Problem is the flyer is incorrect. Jobs did not start Apple, he co-founded it. The point might seem minor, but the flyer goes on to say Jobs then co-founded Pixar. Jobs did not co-found Pixar, technically he did not start it at all. He actually purchased the company from George Lucas, and then transformed it into a completely different company with a different purpose then what Lucas intended it for.

That is hilarious. I wonder if Jobs is going to get any time taken off of Purgatory for this.

"Steve Jobs did all these wonderful things! What's next? Hell, of course, unless the filthy sinner repents."

Like so much home grown religious literature, it's unbelievably lame. I mean, do they honestly think free clip-art and 4th grade prose would convince anyone? And anyway "Jews for Jesus", isn't that what Christians are? But, hey don't ask me, I'm an Atheist.

I think it's a pretty creative way of reaching out to their target audience. BTW, Jews for Jesus are not Christians. They are "Completed" or "Messianic" Jews, those who are Jewish, but accept Jesus as the Messiah, unlike Orthodox Judaism who are still waiting for His imminent return.

MHO, the wedge

This is sooooo obviously a fake practical joke mock up. Jews for Jesus is a Class-A organization that produces very professional resources. This is no better than Dan Rather's story on George Bush's military record.

I did not see anything regarding this on their web site. The contact info on the flyer is different from the one listed on the Jews For Jesus web site. As guest said JFJ produces some nice looking graphic arts. Methinks that this is a hoax.

I bet you're right that it's a hoax. The supposed direct link to the pdf is:

http://www.jesusforjews.org/files/pamphlets/Whats_Next_IPod_Guy%20_R.pdf

And that is "Jesus for Jews" not Jews for Jesus.

You could get "nailed" for saying that

Before making such a definitive statement, you might do a little research. In about 14.2 seconds, using a Google search on "Jesus for Jews," (with the quotes--i.e., as a phrase), I found the home page for Jews for Jesus:

http://www.jewsforjesus.org/

Right on that page, under "Spotlight," is a link to their "special summer web site," which is <insert drum roll>

http://www.jesusforjews.org/

So, it's not a hoax. See also this article from the New York Post and another by "The Gothamist" about an advertising campaign in New York City subway stations.

I still think that it is a hoax site. Where is the "about Jesus For Jews" organization, I couldn't find a "mission" statement or anything like that. There is a info on the "real" Jews for Jesus web site about a New York branch, but no link to jesusforjews. The pamphlet has an email contact to an AOL account, not to an jesusforjews account.

I just did a whois and jesusforjews.org is owned by Jews For Jesus and lists the San Francisco address so this may be a legit organization after all. I was thinking that it might be something along the line of http://www.landoverbaptist.org/

Not "may be," IS. Read the comment just above yours.

Seeing as Steve isn't Jewish anyway, what exactly is the point of J for J attacking him anyway?
