Apple May Rekindle Synaptics Relationship
Wednesday, July 26th, 2006 at 10:30 AM - by
New iPod models from Apple may incorporate interface technology from Synaptics. Forbes reports that Cowen and Company analyst, Robert Stone, says the company may have "meaningful but minority role" in supplying iPod components.
Synaptics designed the click wheel that was used in second, third and fourth-generation iPods. Starting with the iPod nano, Apple began using its own Click Wheel design.
Mr. Stone thinks Synaptics could start supplying parts to Apple as early as the first fiscal quarter of 2007.
