Apple Issues iTunes 7.0.1

Apple on Wednesday released iTunes 7.0.1, which the company said "addresses stability and performance issues with Cover Flow, CD importing, iPod syncing, and more." It can be downloaded from the company's Web site or through Mac OS X's Software Update pane. In Windows, users can launch the application to update it.

Let's hope this one fixes the podcast-makes-your-ipod-reboot problem!

I hope it also fixes demands on system resources. Currently, iTunes 7 bogs down my system worse than Photoshop.

I hate the way the new iTunes looks. Please restore the old colors and fonts.

I happen to like the new fonts and colors.

Guess you need to downgrade.

Or better yet, make it somewhat 'themeable' without resorting to third-party software.

I can understand keeping the GUI consistent, but I should have the ability to choose colors, fonts, etc. The lack of customizability with iTunes is the one area where it falls flat compared to the competition.

I see no difference at all in CPU loading even with Cover Flow activated. Take a look at your third-party plug-ins.

You seem to be in the minority. Most folks I know think the new appearance is a downgrade. Tsk.

Nope, still having issues. iPod won't show up unless I leave the iPod plugged in while I reboot. Also for some reason it's putting disc 3 before disc 2 on some of my album sets.

Unfortunately, the "new" version does not solve any of the problems I encourtered:

- need to stop/start manually the ipodeService to "see" the ipod in iTunes

- ipod does not update to version 1.2 (update takes for ever and never happends)

I had to go back to iTunes 6.5

Still waiting for a *real* software update/correction from Apple Corp.

This whole iTunes (c) problem is what happens when companies try to fix things that aren't broken in the first place or start trying to 'control' their converts...money grabbin' ******** the lot of them.....

I hate the new itunes. For some reason, it won't update my list when i drag a song to the music library directly from my folders, which the old version did.

But most important, after i upgraded itunes and my ipod software, my 30gb video ipod started freezing for about 7 seconds every time i try to skip a song. It's terribly annoying!!! Plus, is it only me? Or the maximum volume is lower than before?

Nope it doesn't! This really bugs me since I upgraded to iTunes. It deletes old podcasts and reboot the Pod when attempting to read the latest article in the group. Shame on you Apple, I guess I'm not the only one

Thanks to all for the notes on this problem. Today it happened to me and I was about to return my iPod to Apple. I turned EQ off and it works fine again. Set EQ to Jazz (in my case) and play a podcast for instant reboot.

If anyone finds Apple fixing this problem, be sure to post it here.

Strange, I did the same, took my EQ off Jazz, and it plays podcasts that were causing it to reboot.

FYI, the captcha test for guest users has a bug. It occasionally shows words that are too large for the image width. Most users should be able to fill in the end of the words, but some might not.

Interesting, thanks for the note, there are thousands of different combinations of words, fonts, and font sizes that not all could possibly be checked in testing. I will look into it when I get time.
