iPod a Top Seller On Amazon

Apple Computer's iPod line up seems to be doing well already this holiday season, and is holding five of the top ten electronics sales slots on Amazon.com. The top three sellers are the 2GB second generation iPod nano, the black 30GB iPod, and the second generation iPod shuffle. The black 80GB iPod is currently the fifth best seller, and the pink 4GB second generation iPod nano is seventh.

The only other MP3 player in the top ten is SanDisk's 1GB Sansa M240.

Almost every other iPod model made it into Amazon's top 25, including the original iPod nano. In comparison, Microsoft's Zune media player came in at number 90. It was beat out in sales by products like CD-R discs, cordless phones, and extended service plans.

Other electronics products that are in Amazon's top ten include the Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Elph camera, Sennheiser HD201 headphones, and the Digital Spectrum MemoryFrame and NuVue 561 digital picture frames.

Zune beat out by an Extended Service Plan? LOL! Man, if that isn't saying a lot about it's success I don't know what does! Even a version 1 would have gone over better than that if it had at least 1/25th of the appeal that an iPod has.

As MDN would say, "more blood on Apple's click-wheel".

Yep. The Zune messed with the best, and died like the rest. It'll only hang around because MS is willing to throw money down the hole to keep it on life-support. Kinda like the Xbox, which has still to turn a profit.

Yea, at least with Xbox, if you wanted to play Halo and you wanted a Pc gaming experience without the hassle of driver, patches & dll problems - you had a cheap solution of $300-$400 (original price) to get aroudn the hassles of buying a $6,000 gaming Pc machine ... but the Zune. It's heavier, worse battery life, requires permission from the movie studios, requires you to have IE and DSL just to register and use it, has crashed on most people's systems and other than music offers nothing else in the online store plus the usual MS - we're clueless & bumbling "features," - when your Zune is plugged in and the Zune jukebox software is running, you cannot listen to any of the songs - if it's recharging, that's all it does.

So the Xbox at least offers you the consumer some cost & time savings even if it costs MS $500 to sell you something for $249. The Zune only has about 100 disadvantages and it probably costs about $350 to sell it to you for $249 - the Zune will be very dead very zoon.

The iPod's dominance seems to be growing more frightening by the minutes. Just checked, Amazon, iPods are now SIX of the TOP EIGHT -selling electronics there, including all of the Top 3.

Didn't even see Zune in the Top 50. Black Zune is currently #76, BROWN Zune is (LOL) #457 (!). So much for MS's assertion that "brown is the new black". Nope, sorry, brown is the new suck, apparently.

I knew MS was gonna get smoked on this one, did not know it was gonna get smoked THIS BADLY.
