BitTorrent Launches Movie Download Service

The file swapping and download system BitTorrent announced deals with several studios on Wednesday for legal movie and TV show downloads. 20th Century Fox, G4, Kadokawa Pictures USA, Lionsgate, Palm Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Starz Media have all signed on to provide content.
MTV Networks is also onboard, and will offer shows from COMEDY CENTRAL, Logo, MTV: Music Television, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons Network, SpikeTV, The N, TV Land and VH1. BitTorrent had already signed deals with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Egami Media, Hart Sharp, Koch Entertainment and The Orchard.
BitTorrent's movie and TV show service is expected to launch in February, and will include music, download-to-own TV programs, on demand and download rental movies, and video games. pricing information has not been announced yet.
BitTorrent's announcement comes only a day after Wal-Mart said that it is launching its own movie download service.
Both services are expected to compete with Apple's iTunes Store, which is currently offers a wide range of TV shows for download, but is limited to Disney and its affiliate studios for movie offerings.
