Paramount Joins the iTunes Store

During his Tuesday morning Macworld keynote, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that Paramount has added its roster of movies to the offerings at the iTunes Store. Between Paramount and Disney, the iTS will offer over 250 movies he said, with the latest additions including the Star Trek series, Tomb Raider, and Patriot Games. He also noted that 1.3 million movies have been sold through the iTS since they were added last September. We'll update this article with more information as we receive it.

finally! maybe we'll start to see more studios get the hint: if you bring it, people will buy it!

I agree with "Guest" above. Once studios figure out that they can make money this way, they'll go for it, especially when they realize (if they are the somewhat dim bulbs they seem to be) that they can sell their movies on SEVERAL online outlets. Once they've encoded the movie in H.264, they can sell it on the iTunes Store, the Zune store (whatever it's called), even their own stores. As I understand it, Apple's Fairplay DRM is not part of the encoding but an add-on.
