Apple Officially Drops 'Computer' From Name
Tuesday, January 9th, 2007 at 2:05 PM - by
Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Tuesday said that his company is now officially known as Apple, Inc., dropping the word "Computer" from the name, which had been there since its inception in the late 1970s. Running through the company's four main product lines -- the Mac, iPod, appletv, and iPhone -- he noted that "only one of those is a computer," which brought about the name change.
