Cisco Still Working on Deal With Apple For iPhone Trademark
Tuesday, January 9th, 2007 at 2:50 PM - by
Cisco, which owns the trademark on the iPhone name, on Tuesday told MarketWatch that it has been negotiating with Apple for the rights to the name. A spokesman said: "It is our belief that Apple intends to agree to the final document. We expect to receive a signed agreement today (Tuesday)." Apple had no comment on the matter.
Cisco owns the rights to the name through its Linksys division, which introduced a wireless phone called iPhone last month. Still, many pundits expected Apple to dub its iTunes-enabled cell phone iPhone, mostly because the company owns the iPhone.org domain.
