Rogers Expected to be Exclusive Carrier of iPhone in Canada

Rogers Wireless said it expects to have exclusive rights to distribute the Apple iPhone in Canada according to a story at The Daily Tech published Thursday. In an e-mail to customers, Rogers explained what to expect but noted that the exact availability date and price were not yet available.

This appears to make sense given that Rogers is the only GSM carrier in Canada. However, Rogers' chief operating officer Nadir Mohamed declined to provide details on agreements with Apple.

The article noted that analysts are expecting the Canadian iPhone prices to be slightly higher and have an estimated arrival in late 2007. The U.S. debut was announced for June 2007.

Figures. To my knowledge, Rogers was the only one to carry the iTunes capable Motorola ROKR and SLVR phones around here. It would make sense that they'd be the ones to carry the iPhone.

I haven't heard a lot of good things about their service, but at least it means it's available where I live.
