iPod shuffle: Now In Color

Apple Inc. added colors to the second generation iPod shuffle on Tuesday, giving the clip-on music player options that go beyond the silver that was available when it was first introduced. You can now get the updated 2G shuffle in pink, green, blue, orange, and the original silver. Storage capacity remains at 1GB, and it ships with a USB dock, and the redesigned Apple earbuds found in the rest of the iPod line up.

The color iPod shuffle is available now, and is priced at US$79.

These will sell like hotcakes...As if the Shuffle needed any help. Hopefully, this is the first of several incremental product announcements to come.

Interesting that they left out black in favor of orange. I guess black is too cool to have for less than $250.

And when did Apple eliminate education discounts on iPods?

Black would've been nice. So would've PROJECT RED. C'mon Apple.

I expect you're right. It looks like Apple has shifted from announcing everything in one big blast at MacWorld to punching out new (or new-ish) products every month or so. Imagine if the "new" Shuffles had been announced at MacWorld. It would have rated an, "Oh, by the way," mention, at best.
