AT&T: 1M Requests for iPhone Info

AT&T COO Randall Stephenson said that since Apple unveiled the iPhone, his company has received about one million requests for additional information. He announced the news during a keynote presentation at the CTIA Wireless conference on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

"One million people have asked us to call when this phone is available," he said. The requests are coming through a special page on Cingular's Web site detailing the iPhone.

AT&T owns Cingular, the company that will be the exclusive carrier of Apple's iPhone in the United States.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPhone, a combination smart phone and iPod, during his keynote at Macworld Expo 2007 in January. The device is scheduled to be released in June.

Thats definitely great news. But iPhone info doesn't cost $600. Don't expect most of these people to put their money where their mouth is when it comes time to pony up the dough. Although I can say with great confidence that at least 1 of them will.

People seem to keep forgetting that there's a $499 iPhone, too. And that even the $599 version isn't the most expensive phone on the market (the LG Prada is supposed to be $800, before carrier subsidies).
