iPhone Scores FCC Approval

Apple's combination iPod and smart phone has finally jumped over the biggest hurdle in the final stages leading up to its June release. The iPhone received its FCC approval, which means the device will likely hit store shelves - and user's hands - on schedule and before July.

Although we can surmise that the iPhone won't cause anyone's head to explode, the approval documents are missing all of the technical details everyone has been hoping to get a glance of. Apple filed a request for confidentiality, so the test photos and user manuals won't be available for at least 45 days.

Considering the unique design of the iPhone, it's no surprise that Apple requested the information be withheld. The suppressed documents likely contain data about how the iPhone functions, and the manual will detail all of the device's features - all information that Apple wants to keep secret until the official launch.

Apple also requested that other technical documents related to the design and operation of the iPhone be permanently withheld - an indication that some of the design features in the smart phone will give Apple a technical advantage when the device finally goes into commercial use.

The SURPRISED documents? Maybe they used really big type, or headed each section with " O_O "

When you find a typo, rather than make some snide remark--which reflects more on you than on the author, send the author an email.
