Thursday, June 28th, 2007 at 9:55 AM - by
Apple retail stores are gearing up for the Friday, June 29, launch of the highly anticipated iPhone. Every Apple Store will be closed from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time, but will stay open until midnight to handle as many customers as possible. Apple's combination iPod and smartphone will be available on a first come, first served basis, and customers can purchase up to two of the devices.
The online Apple Store will start taking orders at 6 p.m. pacific time.
Starting on Saturday, June 30, Apple will begin opening its stores at 9 a.m. local time for iPhone sales, and will continue to open early for the rest of the summer. Hopeful buyers can check Apple's Web site after 9 p.m. the night before they plan on visiting their local Apple Store to see if there will be any iPhone inventory available.
Also starting on Saturday, June 30, Apple retail stores will begin offering in-depth iPhone workshops for free, along with Genius Bar support, and personal training through the One to One program.
The iPhone will be available for purchase at 6 p.m. local time on Friday, June 29. It will be available at Apple and AT&T retail stores as well as the Apple online store. The 4GB model will be priced at US$499, and the 8GB model will cost $599.
