Simplify Media Allows Remote Access to iTunes

Simplify Media has quietly released a beta of its software that allows users to remotely access their iTunes music library anywhere on the Internet. Legally, and with encryption, users can access their remote Mac or PC and listen to music with friends from anywhere that has an Internet connection.

The software is free and claims no hidden spyware. It was designed by "engineers with extensive experience in Internet Security," so the rest of the files on the user's Mac are safe. User's won't need to worry about firewalls or their settings.

More information is available at the Website's support page with an extensive FAQ. Testers can contact the company at support@simplifymedia.com

Simplify Media public beta is free and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. iTunes 6 or 7 is also required.

Looks like a pretty cool site. I've been using mediamaster.com for some time now for pretty much the same purpose, and it's been working pretty well- especially its facebok app that lets me stream my music to friends. Not sure this new site offers much new, but it's cool to see other sites trying to do similar stuff.

Here's hoping one of them soon offers a plugin for my iphone!
