Saturday, September 29th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by
ONTARIO, CA -- Trinity Audio Group was demonstrating Trinity, the first ever advanced field recorder and portable DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) at the Podcast and New Media Expo. Ronald Stewart, Creative Director, told us about the many features of this new all-in-one audio solution.
The Trinity is a stand-alone unit requiring no computer, because the unit itself is a Linux device with a 500 MHz low-power CPU, an 800 x 600 8" backlit TFT LCD display, a touchpad and left and right mouse click buttons. It can record 24-bit audio from 96 kHz to 192 kHz rates, or 16-bit audio at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz rates. The supported audio formats are WAV, MP3, FLAC and Ogg Vorbis. The device has two 1/4" XLR inputs, two 1/4" outputs, two gain controls, and 802.11g WiFi.

The bundled software includes a custom GUI, Ardour DAW, Qtractor DAW, Audacity DAW, Hydrogen Drum Machine, Amsynth analog synth, IDJC Portable Podcasting, and a virtual keyboard. It comes with a 20 GB hard drive, which can store around 8 hours at 44.1 kHz. It also has 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet ports, a USB port, and two 4200 mAh rechargeable batteries which can provide almost 4 hours of battery life.
The Trinity is priced at US$999.99 and is available now.
