Podcast and New Media Expo - Marantz Showing PMD620 Professional Handheld Field Recorder

ONTARIO, CA -- Marantz demonstrated their newest and smallest solid state recorder at this week's Podcast and New Media Expo. Brian Gorman, Marantz Professional Brand Manager, showed us some of what the PMD620 can do.

Marantz PMD620

The PMD620 uses inexpensive SD flash memory for storage, and can record direct to MP3 or WAV formats in 16 or 24-bit resolution. The display uses newer OLED technology, which results in a sharp, bright display that has low power consumption. It can use 2 AA alkaline or NiMH batteries, offering up to 5 hours of operation. The user interface and buttons, as you can see in the above image, are laid out sensibly and are easy to use.

The PMD620 has high-quality omnidirectional condenser microphones built-in, or you can plug in an external stereo or mono microphone. The device can stand upright on a table for roundtable recording, and is the only pro handheld with a built-in speaker.

The PMD620 is prices at US$399, and will be available in November 2007.
