The PMD620 uses inexpensive SD flash memory for storage, and can record direct to MP3 or WAV formats in 16 or 24-bit resolution. The display uses newer OLED technology, which results in a sharp, bright display that has low power consumption. It can use 2 AA alkaline or NiMH batteries, offering up to 5 hours of operation. The user interface and buttons, as you can see in the above image, are laid out sensibly and are easy to use.
The PMD620 has high-quality omnidirectional condenser microphones built-in, or you can plug in an external stereo or mono microphone. The device can stand upright on a table for roundtable recording, and is the only pro handheld with a built-in speaker.
The PMD620 is prices at US$399, and will be available in November 2007.
