Touch Screen Shortage May Impact iPod touch
Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at 10:55 AM - by
Shipments of Apple's iPod touch may fall behind if rumors of touch display shortages prove to be true. The supposed limited supply has been limiting the rate at which Apple can increase its global shipment rate leading into the holiday season, according to DigiTimes.
The touch screen supply issue could impact the NAND flash memory market, too. If Apple isn't building product as quickly as originally planned then it likely isn't taking memory shipments in as high a volume as expected, leaving a market glut in its wake.
While a touch screen display shortage could be a problem for Apple, and ultimately other electronic device manufacturers, DigiTimes isn't known for the reliability of its market sources. As such, take their information with an appropriately dosaged grain of salt.
