Using the iPhone as a Currency Rate Converter
Friday, December 21st, 2007 at 4:40 PM - by
One could go to a Website with Safari on the iPhone and look up currency exchange rates. However, there's an easy way to trick the stock quote application of Safari into providing a simple exchange rate, if that's all that's required, according to the Inquirer Blogs on Friday.
The trick involves entering a formula into the Stock Quote lookup section of the iPhone's Stock application. If you need to know at glance what the exhange between the U.S. Dollar and, say, the Euro is right now, you'll have it in an instant. [For Dollars to Euros, use USDEUR=X]
Of course, this trick just gives the current rate of exchange. A full conversion calculation for arbitrary amounts will still force the use of the iPhone's calculator.
