ComScore Reports 10 Billion Videos Viewed Online in Dec '07

comScore reported on Friday that just over 10 billion videos were viewed online in December, 2007. The vast majority were viewed at Google sites, (32.6 percent) and Apple came in 9th on the list accounting for just 0.5 percent.

December was reported as the single heaviest month for online video consumption since the tracking service was initiated. Google sites showed the heaviest growth.

"With the writer's strike keeping new TV episodes from reaching the airwaves... It appears that online video is stepping in to help fill that (alternatives for fresh content) void," said Erin Hunter, comScore executive vice president of media and entertainment.

Note: Viacom owns properties such as Paramount, MTV, and indirectly, CBS. Noticeably missing from the list was NBC.

In terms of unique viewers, Apple still placed 9th, but captured 5.4 percent of all the unique viewers.
