Apple Releases iPod Reset Utility 1.0.3

Apple released iPod Reset Utility 1.0.3 for the first and second generation iPod shuffle on Monday. The utility restores both models back to factory settings in situations where iTunes fails to perform a reset.

The utility also deletes all of the music and other data on the iPod shuffle and installs the latest version of the iPod software. It is intended for use on shuffles that are unresponsive, do not play music and can't be restored, or aren't recognized by iTunes but are still seen by the computer.

iPod Reset Utility 1.0.3 is free and available for download at the Apple Support Web site in versions for Mac OS X and Windows.
