Apple Releases Second Beta for iPhone SDK

Apple Inc. released a second beta of the iPhone SDK Thursday as part of the iPhone developer program. The new beta adds Interface Builder to the developer tools already included with the SDK, filling in a key took for developers.

In the release notes, Apple said, "New in the second beta release of the iPhone SDK is support for building iPhone user interfaces using the Interface Builder tool. Interface Builder is used to graphically design application screens using drag-and-drop, and then to wire the graphical controls to source code."

The second beta comes just 21 days after the first version of the SDK was released on March 6th, 2008. Apple announced at the time that more than 100,000 copies of that first release were downloaded in the first few days following its release. Apple is expected to release the final version of the SDK sometime in June.

The new release can be downloaded from the iPhone developer site.
